Empire Canyon Lodge is one of three Deer Valley day-lodges. The other's are Snow Park Lodge and Silver Lake Lodge – all styled after grand old National Park lodges built in the late 19th century. They each exude rustic elegance with their wooden beams, wide-planked wooden floors and lots of windows to showcase the local slope-side beauty.
At an elevation of 8,300 feet, Empire Canyon Day Lodge is located well above Park City at the base of Empire Canyon, and offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with stunning views and crackling fires.
For additional reference, it's positioned at the base of Empire Express lift, directly between two prominent high-country developments of Sommét Blanc and Deer Valley Montage.
Easy access by car via Marsac Avenue with complimentary valet parking.
Walk, Ski, Snowmobile, Drive, Bus. You choose.
Empire Canyon Lodge has expansive outdoor decks with stunning views of the Daly Bowl and Chutes. At the base of these ski chutes is where the Chute Eleven Yurt experience is located. The GPS street address is: 9200 Marsac Avenue, Park City, UT 84060. Empire Lodge sits right next door to the Montage up Empire Pass.
If you're already visiting the Montage, then just walk over to Chute Eleven. Alternatively, you can lift up and ski down to Empire Lodge via the Quincy Express chair lift.
To get there by car, you can take Marsac Avenue up the canyon headed towards Guardsmans Pass, and right after you pass the entrance to the Montage, there is a roundabout where Empire Lodge is located. Complimentary evening valet parking is provided, as no public parking is available.
Or catch the free Park City public transit Purple line #9 bus which departs from Park City's Old Town transit center up to Empire Lodge. This is also a great way to get back down the mountain if skiing is not an option.
Situated on the backside of the Empire Canyon day lodge, the Chute Eleven yurt offers breathtaking views of Chutes 1 through 10, while allowing visitors to enjoy an unforgettable après music lineup in the heart of Deer Valley's upper terrain.
It is a common practice at ski resorts, to name venues after aspects of their surrounding terrain. The name "Chute Eleven" is directly connected to Deer Valley's notorious Daly Chutes which are a series of TEN (10) double-black diamond, expert-caliber ski runs at Empire Pass, reachable from the Empire Express chairlift. The 10 Daly Chutes hover over Empire Canyon like ever-vigilant sentinels. These renowned chutes offer some of the most challenging skiing in all of Utah with steepness pitches of nearly 45 degrees. The runs feature narrow, tricky entrances, filled with natural obstacles like trees, shrub brush, and huge moguls. Further, the name 'Daly' comes from prominent Park City miner-turned-banker John Daly, who owned the area's Daly Judge Mining Company and mines. Remnants of the Daly West Mine can be spotted directly behind the Montage Deer Valley, not far from the Chute Eleven yurt.
Now That's A Yurt! A yurt is a circular, tent-like dwelling with a rich history. Its defining feature is a collapsible wooden lattice framework that forms the walls, supporting a central roof ring crown and radiating roof poles to create a domed nomadic structure. Traditionally covered with layers of felt for insulation and weather protection, modern yurts utilize more durable fabrics like canvas. This design allows for spacious interiors and surprising durability against the elements. Today, yurts are experiencing a resurgence in popularity, serving diverse purposes from glamping and unique homes to event spaces like an alpine après bar. Yurts are appreciated for their blend of traditional charm, practicality, and often eco-friendly nature. A variety of yurts can be found throughout the greater Wasatch mountain range along the western edge of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Cheers!
While at Empire Lodge, be sure to check out the Fireside Dining experience. It offers festive European Alps atmosphere and food-inspired fare, featuring comfort courses served from the hearth stone fireplaces. Enjoy warm raclette cheese, cured meats, salads, specialty entrées, hearty sides, fire-roasted leg of lamb, freshly baked breads and dessert fondues. A full bar is available, as well as specially selected wines and craft beer. Fireside Dining is a great option in winter for dinner if you've already experienced other Park City offerings and aren't planning a lot of other out-and-about excursions besides skiing. Open select evenings during ski season.
