All of Park City's seasons are fabulous in their own right, and appreciated for their own unique charm.
The locals here refer to the early-spring period as the "Mud Season". The name comes from the shift towards warming weather and melting snow. Temperatures are moderate, yet not high enough to fully dry things out, so the turf simply gets a 'little muddy'. But in our opinion, the mud-season name is misnomer. It's really just spring. Not all ground, nor all trails, nor all activities, are subject to the these conditions. To the contrary, it's really mostly pleasant and refreshing. We should call it the 'Spring-cleaning and Freshening-up Season' because that's exactly what happens. Sure, the pace is slower and things seem less hectic, but these are the ingredients for optimum enjoyability. Things begin to bloom. Hence the 'shoulder season' lays the ground-work for an even more charming and immersive Park City experience.
Here are some obvious AND not-so-obvious ideas on how to fill that period of transition during Utah’s climate change, during the post-winter/pre-summer 'mud season', but well before the summer crowds return:

Spring is the blooming season. Things like hiking, biking, and exploring are very possible, and in many cases offer an exciting twist on a usual mid-summer outing. In fact, the mix of lingering patches of white snow, with the warming rays of the peeking sun create some of the very best ambiance for creating lasting new memories.
What is the 3-3-3-3 Rule for Charcuterie Boards?
No matter the style of the wood charcuterie board, you can always follow the 3-3-3-3 rule.
Every charcuterie board should have:
three meats,
three cheeses,
three starch options, and
three accompaniments, such as fruit, nuts, or veggies.

Practically speaking, mud-season in Summit-Wasatch counties can be viewed the original "OG" spring-break. Many local operations take a much needed break after an intense four months of very hard work during the busy winter ski season. That's totally cool. And while allowing for this, there are more than enough seasonal-appropriate activities that visitors enjoy during this time. You just have to get out there, experiment, and check it out for yourself. And contact our concierge care team for added inspiration.
Depending on the snow-cover, here are a couple more spring season recommendations of things to do in the area:
Ice Fishing - Park City is home to dozens of creeks, small lakes, and reservoirs that are perfect for fishing, even in the cold weather. Whether a beginner or an experienced angler, book a guided ice fishing trip and enjoy the beauty of the Utah wilderness. The stunning scenery and spring weather make it the perfect time to explore Park City’s many trails.
Snowshoeing - Why not try some snowshoeing? Snowshoeing is a fantastic way to explore the mountains and forests of Park City in a whole new way. With the right gear, you can travel across the snow-covered terrain, take in the beautiful scenery, and soak in the local flora and fauna. Plus, it’s a great workout.
Snowmobiling - For a more adrenaline-filled adventure, you can also try your hand at snowmobiling. With so many trails to choose from, you can find one that fits your skill level and get out and explore the winter wonderland that is Park City.
