Here we briefly describe the après scene and it's appeal to skiers and non-skiers alike. Yes - this is one of the things you can do on a ski vacation, even if you never hit the slopes.

And there are après options for every taste, location, and budget, no matter how you want to transition the twilight of your day on the hill!

Quintessential Après

Après-ski is a French term that translates to “after ski.” Coined in Europe in the 1950s, it refers to the time spent after skiing. Some choose think of après-ski as French for "day drinking in the snow". Alas, either way, picture relaxing in the late afternoon sun, with a hot (or cold) beverage in hand, soaking the lingering rays, and wearing your favorite sweater. The quintessential après might include a jazz combo or outdoor DJ playing quietly nearby as champagne flows by the toasty fire.

Après Happy-Hour at-Altitude

The term evokes happy-hour at-altitude vibes, including tasty cocktails, hearty conversation, faux-fur shackets, and an emotive fashion sense for understated ski style. It's that carefree blend of sleek and sporty apparel that wraps you from the slopes to the street. Exchange those hard-shell industrial ski boots, goggles, and gloves, and slide into a pair of shearling-lined all-terrain street boots to traverse your way in style to dinner, drinks, and shopping. Text your companions: "I'm ready. I'll meet you at the lodge (or the yurt)!"

VIP: Mountain Chic Après

There is no specific day or time for when after-ski activities start or finish. Be ready anytime to go mountain-chic with your favorite scarf, puffer jacket, ski-cap, fur-lined boots, turtleneck sweater, or cool-weather accessory that combine function, fashion, and comfort. You may not have spent the day shredding the slopes nor black diamond runs, but you can still sparkle among the winter wonderland comradery. Location: Deer Valley Upper Resort Ski Beach. Ski directly to The Vintage Room doors from Deer Hollow ski run. This après-ski paradise is also reachable via the resort's funicular. Cross the walkway connecting the bar to the main building.

Attire is après ski chic. Guests must be 21+. Open seasonally in the winter to serve lunch and après ski. Live DJ Thurs - Sun. Reservations recommended.

Deer Valley's Chute Eleven has redefined luxury après-ski. Located at Empire Canyon Lodge, this stylish yurt offers an unforgettable experience. Enjoy handcrafted cocktails, a curated menu of gourmet small bites, and live performances from world-class DJs. Choose from exclusive experience packages, including Premier and VIP tables with champagne, seafood, and charcuterie, or opt for general admission. Chute Eleven hosts seasonal lineups of DJs and other entertainers on select dates. Due to limited capacity, reservations are highly recommended and can be made on Deer Valley’s website, where you'll also find the latest updates on performances and special events. Walk-ins are welcome during regular hours and for ticketed Slopeside Sets performances.

If you're feeling especially festive, treat yourself in style. Launched in 2015, the Montage Deer Valley set the standard with their grand opening of The Après Lounge, 'the only ski-in, ski-out Veuve Clicquot champagne lounge in the world'. A true fusion of luxury, charm, and alpine allure.

Montage Deer Valley’s Après Lounge is a cozy yurt with eclectic & chic mountain décor. The inviting craftsman-style atmosphere features wooden accents, a roaring fireplace, lounge-style seating, and sweeping views of the slopes. Designed to pair perfectly with the Champagne, The Après Lounge features a selected bites gourmet menu including caviar, local cheeses & charcuterie, smoked fish and more created by Montage Deer Valley’s expert culinary team.

Located in Empire Village, directly behind the resort with direct access to Ruby, Empire and Lady Morgan ski lifts, The Après Lounge makes for a true skiers’ delight.

The Après Chalet at Auberge Goldener Hirsch

In the company of luxe lounges, Goldener Hirsch’s Après Chalet Experience embraces European style. Tucked away at mid-mountain, Auberge’s Bavarian-themed Goldener Hirsch Resort Hotel has transformed their outdoor terrace into a chic après lounge complete with plush furnishings, inviting pillows, sheepskin rugs, an outdoor fireplace and seasonal fare. The Goldener Hirsch culinary experts have crafted a menu that celebrates European flavors and Rocky Mountain products. To complete the Perfect Moment branding overlay, Goldener Hirsch’s offers specially crafted cocktails paired with renowned fondue and Bavarian pretzels. Several house-made artisan pretzel flavors, including: classic, gruyere paprika, & olive feta. But be warned, the space is all outside so may want to avoid on colder, snowier days.
